Zoe - Taylor ?

Season Premiere of The Rachel Zoe Project is tonight at 9pm! (Central Time) I cannot wait to see what went down between Team Zoe and Taylor, but whatever it was didn't leave them on very good terms...from what I can tell from the previews on Bravo's site.
AHH! Its going to be ....

I just adore Brad and Roger! So freaking cute!!! Always impeccably dressed. Loves it!

rachel-zoe-project-15.jpgWhile I have no aspirations to become a Hollywood stylist, it is fun to indulge weekly in the musings and outrageous events that unfolds at "Camp Zoe". There is no doubt her style is above all and that alone is enough for me to watch, and ok, maybe I do close my eyes and click my heels three times wishing I could steal her condo and bedroom set-up. Oh for the love of Missoni.

Blogging Troubles

I'm having a few experimental issues with Blogger. I took quite the hiatus from the blogging world and upon my return, found many changes to the templates and such. So I'm working out the kinks and also have decided to rename my blog. Hope this doesn't cause any problems for anyone!
Happy Tuesday!

Chair Facelift

I found these two fabulous ratan chairs at a small vintage store off N.Burnett and I fell in love with not only them, but the price. Hold your breath....
$6. I can't really argue with two ratan chairs for $12.
When I found them they were rather dirty and their cushions were rather stained. But there is nothing a magic eraser and some $5/yard-fabric-from-Ikea won't fix.
I had never reupholstered something before (other than my headboard project, which you can find in the archives), so my mom showed me what to do. And it was surprising simple.
After I gave both the chairs a good scrub down with a Brawny Magic Eraser to get rid of any grubby marks and scruffs, We removed the old fabric off the cushions.
We cut the fabric finding the pattern piece we wanted and actually darted the corners to give it a more polished look.
Then we simply used a staple gun to secure it back on to the cushion and reattached them to the chairs!! So simple, it took us about an hour total for both chairs.
I had one fabric from Ikea picked out that I ADORED for them, but they were out of stock. So I chose a rather funky Viking and Maid print instead and decided to make a "His & Her" chair. For a first time project having a center focal point wasn't the best choice as this made centering them and stapling them correctly very difficult. I give my mom many thanks for helping me pull this project off.
"Hers" Chair.

The end result with chairs in place. A simple conversation area!

First week in the new apartment!

I have officially spent 1 week in my new apartment. I am considering starting a new blog to document all the projects and DIY's I'm working on to make my apartment my very own.

Here is a small preview, the bedroom. I will be doing daily posts from the beginning to what I've gotten done now. I think I will probably call it Apt#8426 or something like that. Not sure yet, but stay tuned for some great projects and cheap cheap design ideas!!! My budget for the whole place was only $800 and I stayed under it AND furnished an entire 774 sq.ft space.

Happiness to Me...

I've been thinking about all the things in my life that bring me happiness and joy. I complied a visual list to share with everyone. Happy Thursday!

1. Sharing a moment over a morning cup of coffee with my boyfriend

2. Laying on the couch and reading a great book or 10

That's just a short list of some of things that bring me real happiness....what brings happiness into your life?

The Countdown begins...

And so begins the countdown of days until I hop in the car at an ungodly hour to make my way to the city of Austin. 9 days to go! Is it sad one of the things I'm most concerned about during this moving process is finding the closest library to where I'll be living?!
I was considering BookSwim, but for $29.99, which is how much a casual membership costs, I would rather buy 1 or 2 books a month from B&N. Or a thrift shop, which is where I actually find most of my good paperbacks.
 **
I'm also collecting visuals of bedrooms I love. I am definitely using a bench or long crate at the end of my bed. Hopefully for storage and also I think it just looks amazing. I always think of Rachel Zoe's bedroom when I have my perfect bedroom in my mind. Minus the Missoni throws which are luxurious, but just not my taste.

See, with the beautiful stack of books at the end of the bed.

I also love, love the look of the zebra rug. I know I will have one in the living room. I'm going to try really hard to balance out any feminine touches with some masculinity as well. My boyfriend will be joining me in September when baseball finishes and I don't think he'd appreciate coming home to a room full of girly, fluffy shit. Not that that's my taste...I'm just saying.

Budget Buys

I'm going to be working on an extremely tight/low budget to decorate and furnish my apartment. At least until I can find work. I've been compiling list after list and scouring the internet for some good finds. And I can't wait to hit up a garage sale or 10 to find some bargains once I move. (If anyone knows of good flea markets or antique stores in the Austin area please let me know!)
In the Bedroom, I want a bed that can be versatile and modern.
Tuscany Villa White Faux Leather Queen-size BedI love this White Faux Leather Look from Overstock.com $354
JONSBO EGBY Table lamp
As for bedside Lighting, I am obsessed with clear anything right now. And this $19.99 table lamp from Ikea.com does it for me!

In the kitchen, I'm going to be all about uniformed storage and perfect portion sizes for easy eats. I have extremely weird food habits. And these little matching jars are going to look perfect whether they're in the cabinet or fridge! Set of 12 for $19.99 at Crateandbarrel.com

I'm probably going to splurge on a few great pieces and furniture I know I'll have for a long time and try to be thrifty when it comes to the more easily replaceable items.
